History In the Making
11 September 2009

Electronic music is part of Belgian heritage. Like Germany, Belgium is often viewed as the birthplace of - well - maybe not all but definitely a lot of things electronic. Sadly there has been far too little documented about the Belgian club scene over the past thirty years. That's why we want to make sure that we create a thorough and in-depth record of Belgian nightlife in the next months and years ahead. From Telex, Front 242 and Outlander to New Beat, CJ Bolland, Milk Inc. and Soulwax. From 55, Boccaccio and Carat to Fuse, Zillion and Culture Club. And even from R&S, USA Import and Bonzai to Lowlands, N.E.W.S. and Eskimo Recordings.
RedBullElektropedia.be is a work in progress. Our first concern was to get the website online and make sure most features work. It's not perfect yet; we forgot to make a category for radio shows like Liaisons Dangereuses and Teknoville. The party calendar is still in the works. And you can only search for 'artists', 'labels', 'events', 'venues' and 'persons' - there wasn't enough time to develop a tool to search 'all'. No worries though: we continue working on those things and will update the website from time to time - until it works perfectly!
As far as content goes, a lot of people have been adding biographies, photos, flyers, posters, videos, etcetera for weeks. For that: we thank them! But there is still A LOT that needs to be added - to both the different pages and the timeline on top of the homepage. If you want to help: create an account and help us complete the history of the Belgian club and electronic music scene. Or if you have a question, good advise, heavy criticism or know off any important dates that need to be added to the timeline: get in touch!
Thanks!
